Creating a custom movie or DVD

Last Updated: Apr 05, 2016 06:00PM PDT
Custom movies are a great way to combine chapters from any of your albums (i.e. DVDs) in any order you would like, and create a new movie to share or a new DVD.

You have 90 days to order DVDs from the time you first receive your email invitation to activate your online account.  We store your movies online, and the video files needed to create DVDs are quite a bit larger so we can only store them for 90 days.  You can see how long you have to order DVDs within any DVD in "My Videos" Find out more.

Here's how!

Navigate to  "My Custom Movies" in the "Create" section.  This is where all custom movies are saved.  You can create a new custom movie by clicking "+ Create a New Custom DVD."

This will take you to the project creator screen.  With the step 1 drop down menu you can choose albums you wish to add to the custom movie. Albums less than three months old are available to select.

After selecting an album, scenes will appear in the area below.  Drag the desired scenes into the timeline in step 2.  From the timeline use the gear icon (which appears when you hover the cursor over a scene) to preview the scene (Play), select a portion of the scene (Trim), or remove the scene from the timeline (Delete).  You may rearrange the order of the scenes by dragging them to a different location in the timeline.

Then preview the custom movie by clicking the play button, give it a title (required before continuing), then save or order a DVD.

If you choose to order a DVD, you can select the number of DVD copies you would like at $9.99 per DVD.  Shipping is a flat rate of $5.99 regardless of the number of DVDs you order.

From this screen you can choose a theme and soundtrack for your DVD. Themes appear on your DVD cover as well as your DVD menu (see below for example theme).  Soundtracks will play the selected music on your DVD throughout your movie instead of the original audio of your video.  If you would like the original audio, choose the first option, "Original Audio".

From there, select "Update Cart" or "Checkout Now." If you start the DVD selection process and checkout but decide not to order immediately, you can always return to "My Cart" from the Account menu (from any page).

Any custom movies you create will be saved to "My Custom DVDs."  You can continue editing a custom movie or order DVDs from"My Custom DVDs."
